How to connect a Dell C1765nfw Laser colour printer to my iPad 12” PRO?
I followed the instructions from a post in 2015 here:-
but the wheels fell of when following the linked instructions!
Can some one please get this dratted iPad talking to my printer, by the way, it worked just fine with my now deceased two Windows 10 PC’s which were destroyed on Patch Tuesday in March by some nefarious MS update!
HELP!

Realised both on different channels same router, changed iPad to 2.4GHz so now they should be able to see each other but iPad still says “No Air print printers found”.
Just downloaded the user manual for the printer as someone on Apple site say I need to turn on ‘Bonjour” or what ever which might be turned off by default.
Just trawled miles off pages and eventually got to the MAC section and all the talk is about using the set-up disk!
What set up disk? I was gifted this printer I was lucky to get the power cord!! :D
Anyone able to guide me to the magic switch?
Thanks.

The Dell C1765nfw Color Laser Printer is not showing up on your iPad because it does not send out AirPrint signals correctly anymore.
Use your Linux Mint laptop as a bridge to make the things easier.
Install CUPS and share the printer. Then, turn on printer sharing and Avahi (a Bonjour replacement). Your iPad will then see it as an AirPrint printer on the same Wi-Fi network.
In summary, while the iPad cannot connect directly, Linux Mint and CUPS will facilitate its functionality.

@Printer Tales sorry for delay in response, I was waiting for a call from a Dell Tech guy after contacting their CEO!
tunns out that my setting up of the printer’s WiFi connection was made between the printer and the PC, the one that Microsoft has fried with the patch Tuesday updates applied in March!
the Dell guy has now connected the printer wireless facility to my router but sadly the iPad still can’t see it!
I have used cups once in the past to try and connect one of my old (2010) laptops which I use to play around with Linux it was a long time ago and I can’t recall if it was a success, …it possibly was as failure is so much more memorable :D
just to understand, are you saying that a fairly recent Linux Distro should be able to communicate with this old printer as a matter of course?
If that’s so, the iPad is redundant, unless I want to print a file which is “imprisoned” within the dratted iPad!
I have a “Hootoo”USB stick which also has an Apple connector which has been gold dust for me, as was their travel router, they were so really useful that Apple removed the Apps for them from the App Store making them mostly useless!
Worst case, if I want to print stuff from the iPad , I could email it to the Linux machine in order to print!
Even that would be brilliant, who knew Cups was so powerful!
Thanks for giving me hope!
I’ll let you know if I’m successful!
