H825 Issues - 2 related to scanning

I've got two issues with my H825 MFP that are driving me nuts.  One of them I can live with, but the other one make it almost useless.

Primary issue is a dark line about 1/2" wide on the right side of all scans, whether feeder or flatbed.  I can not find any real helpful information about that.

Secondary issue is related to scanning to a file.  If I use the feeder to scan a 10 page document it works fine (except the line), but if I try to scan a duplex document, the printer says it has encountered an error and needs to be restarted.

Any help you have would be greatly appreciated.  This device hasn't even printed 500 pages yet.
