E525W won't save settings after clearing NVM
So my son's chromebook got the expired SSL certificate message on printing to the E525W so I went into the web interface to try to delete the certificate to regenerate one.
Following the directions on this reddit post, I was able to reset the admin password which was preventing me from proceeding.
However, now when I power on the E525W, I always get the Initialize NVM message and have to select the Country, Date and Time, in addition to re-setting up my wifi connection every time.
Other than throwing away the printer, do I have any recourse?
Any info would be appreciated.

The printer probably has a backup battery on the mainboard inside, and since this device is headed for 10 years old, it's likely weak or dead.
There is no real service manual for the device, so it's up to you whether you want to try finding the battery and replacing it.
