E525w, firmware updated, no scanner installed
I have this same MFP printer (E525W). It worked great for about the first year. Then, after a firmware "update", I started having problems getting it to scan. It would always say "no scanner installed. Dell tech support worked on it and they just ended up uninstalling all of the software and drivers for it, then re-installing everything. Worked fine for 1 day. Then the problem returned. I had hoped that when the next firmware update in January came through, the problem would finally be resolved. NOPE! At this point, I have to uninstall all software and re-install just to get it to print wirelessly, scanning will only work via USB. Sometimes, I have to carry the computer back into the room with the printer and hook up the USB just to get it to print, kind of defeats the purpose of having a wireless printer. I have considered calling Dell again about it, but dread the 2-4 hours on the phone while they remote into it and try all of this again, only to have it screw up a day later. My next thought is that I will just limp through with it until I run out of toner(bought extra cartridges when I purchased the printer) then ditch it for a more reliable MFP. One of the neighbors has an HP that has worked perfectly for over 4 years now with no connectivity issues whatsoever.
