E525w, cannot untick pause

I have a Dell MFP e525w that I have been using on my Mac without any problem........ until now. Whenever I try to print from mine or my wife's mac mini desktop the job goes into the print queue, with the printer paused and the print job saying "ready to print." When I untick the pause button, it changes to printing just briefly, then reverts to paused. This happens with both of our computers. The color toners are low and I tried switching to "Non Dell toners" with no change in behavior. Interestingly, if I print from my iPhone, the page will print while giving me the "low toner" warning. I've reloaded the driver, cycled the printer and computers on and off, and tried smiling nicely but nothing works. It will scan to my computer just fine and the wifi communication is happening. Any suggestions?

Same problem here! It worked well for years, and suddenly this morning the same problem started. It is 'paused', and when I click on 'resume' it switches back to 'paused' immediately.

Wow this is so strange- I ran into this problem too just now. What is going on? This unit worked well but now has clearly turned into a dud. Running into the no toner issues OP mentioned as well.

This is not just a problem with your Dell printer. I have also faced the same issue in my Epson printer which I had to resolve with the Epson printer troubleshooting methods. You can also go with some of the troubleshooting methods that might solve your issue. But in my case some of the changes in the settings and reconnecting solved the issue.

I found a solution on my Macbook for this: Go to System Preferences, select Printers&Scanners. Remove the Dell printer from the list. Add it again, but this time, instead of Secure AirPrint, choose AirPrint as driver. That should make it work again.

I do not see AirPrint as an option.

I was able to fix the issue just now,

First, I removed the printer from Apple Logo (top left) > Systems Settings > Printers and Scanner (scroll all the way down) > Click the printer to highlight and click Remove Printer ...

Second, I'm not sure if this is necessary but I downloaded the new driver and installed it for Dell MFP E525w here, https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/dell-e525w-printer/drivers  Rebooted just in case, again this might not be necessary, but did it anyways.

Third, I added the printer again, under the System Settings Add Printer, this time under "Use:" I chose "Select Software" and chose "Dell Color MFP E525w v1.158" and click Ok. It defaults to the Fax driver, I just click one selection up.

Hope this works.
