Did a new Install, now Dell 962 Printer wont work (Win7)
So here are all the facts:
I caught a bug on my computer from who-knows-where. Whatever it was, it decided to delete a good portion of my hard drive. So I got a couple antivirus and anti-malware programs, and they did too good a job- I corrupted my registry.
So I had no option but do a re-install. I didn't do a fresh install; this is the option where everything it moved to Windows.old. So the computer's good again, except that my printer is not working correctly.
First, I tried drivers from the website. I tried R151565, which should've done the job. That setup behaved weirdly, though. It is supposed to end after it installs the All in One Center, and it's supposed to leave me with a printer that works. It doesn't.
Then, since this was a re-install, I had to install updates. A dell driver update was one of these. So I thought that this would solve things. The update was successful, but my printer is not installed.
This has never happened to me. Either the printer isn't compatible, or it works. This feels like the printer is in limbo. So I tried to think of what could be wrong. I looked in Devices and Printers, and it has that caution sign on my printer. Then I looked in Devices, and I noticed this odd thing
Why do I have two entries for one printer? That must be a hint to the problem, but I don't know the answer. I can imagine that there has to be at least one person who's encountered this kind of trouble. Please, help me out. Searches have led me here a few times, but I couldn't find a solution that matches my problem

Hi KenLJ,
Thank you for writing to the Dell Community Forum.
We would recommended you to do a clean installation of the OS. Request you to back up data from the Windows.old folder. Please use this link http://dell.to/1sU6QJ3 to restore your Windows 7 computer to factory settings. If this option does not work then you may manually reinstall Windows 7 using this link http://dell.to/1mN6P6v. If you want to just the printer working then, please uninstall the printer driver. Disconnect the printer from the computer. Download the printer driver using this link http://dell.to/1IXOCus and install. Connect the printer cable to the system only when it prompts you to connect the cable. Continue with the installation and it would print the test page once it is installed. There are two entries in the device manager, one for the scanner and the other is for the printer.
Please reply if you have any further questions.

PHEW! OK, so the printer is good to go again. I deleted the C:\dell folder, unplugged the printer from the computer, then ran the driver. I plugged it in when prompted, and the install worked properly, unlike before.
This has never happened to me, but I've also never had my hard drive wiped against my will, so there's a first time for everything! Thank you.
