Dell V715w not connecting via ethernet
Hello. I am hoping someone here can help me solve this very irritating problem.
I am trying to connect my Dell V715w printer to my computer via ethernet. I purchased the printer many years ago, so I do not have the original installation disk, therefore I downloaded the Windows 10 installation exe on the Dell website. After running it, I get all the way up to the "Select connection type" screen, at which time I choose "Ethernet connection." It prompts me to connect my ethernet cable, which I do, and then I hit "Continue." But, no matter what, on the "Select your printer" page that comes up, nothing is available.
My printer is on and the ethernet cable works and has a steady connection (I get a green light on my switch board, which is connected to my computer). The only problem I can presume is that the switch board may be interfering with the printer's communication with my computer. However, I cannot plug the ethernet cable directly into my computer because it is too short.
I cannot connect wirelessly and I do not have a long enough USB cord, so this is my only option. I hope someone has advice...I wish I had more information, but there simply is none. I do not know what would be causing the lack of communication (the computer simply will not recognize that the printer is plugged in).
Thank you for any assistance!

On the router where the printer is connected can you log in to it and get the IP address of the Printer? From there you might be able to try adding the printer manually from the add printer function in Windows 10 (and directing it to IP address).
Let me know if this helps, there are a few other ways to do this but wanted to see if this works for you.
Best regards,

Hi, Brad. Thank you for the reply.
On my printer, I can hit the Setup button, which takes me to a menu screen. From there, I choose "Network Setup," then "TCP/IP," then "Set IP Address." This shows me an IP address, but when I try to use that to connect the printer in the installation window on my computer, it searches and then still does not list any printers. Is there a different way to go about this?
Thanks,
James

Brad,
I just went directly to the Windows 10 "Printers and scanners" settings area as you suggested. I hit the + next to "Add a printer or scanner," and something did pop up! It says "ET002000A62F00" which I assume is my printer (?). However, when I added it, it now reads "Driver unavailable." I do not see any further options. Clicking/double-clicking the printer listed does nothing.

James,
I used to see that when I had the Dell V715w Printer installed. Can't remember if that was a way to communicate or not.
I have setup this printer using the usb cable for initial setup, then used it wirelessly the rest of the time I had it.
