Dell v715w - cannot retrive applicaitons list from your computer

I have a new Voastro desktop WIN7 64bit (replaced a dimension on XP)  i cannot use the printer control panel to scan.  I keep getting cannot retrieve applicaitons list from your computer on the printer display.

Have reinstalled the printer at least 3 times now with various drivers dowloaded and from the original printer disk

I have seen many posts on here for similar issues but none seem to have a definitive solutiuon for this issue.

Any help much appriciated!

Thanks - sdgconc

Hi,

Thank you for the reply.

Please disable the  firewall on the computer and check if the printer works fine.

If the scan is successful after disabling the firewall, kindly add Dell Printer as an exception to the firewall.

If the scan is unsuccessful, please follow the steps below:

Click Start > Control Panel > Devices and Printer > right click Printer and select Properties.

Select Ports Tab in Printer Properties window and then select Configure Port.

Printer IP will be listed in the Port configuration window.

Enter printer IP address on the browser to logon to the printer webpage.

Click Configuration and Scan to Network Host management.

Then click Start > All Programs > Dell Printers > Printer Home Settings tab > Network Computer Name.

Delete the Scan to PC Host.

Please let me know if you are using printer wirelessly or through USB cable.

In case you are using printer wirelessly, please try scanning a document with printer connected through USB cable.

Thanks & Regards

Hi sdgconc,

Welcome to the Community.

I would suggest you to unplug the printer and uninstall the Dell printer software.

Click on Start> All Programs > Dell Printers > Dell v715w > Uninstall Dell v715w.

Follow the instructions on the screen.

Remove the printers by clicking Start > Control Panel > Devices and Printers. Remove the printers by right click and remove. Restart the computer.

Insert the printer drivers disk and follow the instructions on the screen.

If the installation screen does not appear, click Start > Computer and double-click the CD-ROM drive icon > double-click setup.exe.

When the printer software installation screen appears, click Using a USB cable, Using a wireless network, or Using an Ethernet cable.

Follow the on screen instructions to install the printer.

Once installed, restart the computer.

Please keep me posted with the results.

Thanks & Regards

sdgconc,

Try reading...

Update list of applications to send scans to

Also try these tweaks...

Start, control panel, device manager.

Go to the USB Controller section and click the + sign.

Go to each USB Root Hub and right click on it, left click properties, left click power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

Restart your computer.

--------------------------------------

Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your wireless adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

sdgconc,

Check your firewall settings.

Unplug the printer from the wall for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.

Power off your ISP modem/router and your wireless router(if any) for 30 seconds. Then power on the ISP modem/router. Wait 15 seconds, then power on the wireless router(if any)

Restart the computer and connect.

Wait about 60 seconds, then try the printer.

sdgconc,

Sometimes power flickers will cause small communication problems. Power cycling the devices corrects the problem.

Take care,

Rick
