Dell printer does not work at all after firmware update

I have a Dell b2375dfw laser printer bought in 2016. I have not updated its firmware since the printer was bought. Recently I applied a firmware update to it. This is "Dell B2375dfw/dnf Mono MFP Firmware". This was done Friday evening. The printer was not turned off in this time. Today I discovered that the printer does not accept print commands or anything else. If I press the buttons it just says "please wait". The menu just shows empty boxes so I cannot even goto the settings and select factory reset. I will most certainly not attempt a firmware update on any printer for as long as I live.

I have tried to follow the same procedure to update the firmware again but to no avail. Is there any workaround for this that resets the printer to the original firmware and my life can continue as normal?
