Dell printer configuration web tool

I have 2 Dell 3000cn printers in the network attached as network printers.

I am only able to connect to one printer "printer configuration web tool" using the appropriate IP address.

The other printer I receive a response "unable to connect". I've tried connecting with explorer & firefox utilizing windows XP pro, Vista and Linux mint as OS's

Any ideas?

Thank you.

Hello Tim,

Thank you for the update. I would still lean towards the failure of the NIC as it seems to be having issues with that specific protocol. You can try flashing the firmware to see if that helps at all.

Hello Tim,

Thank you for posting to the forum. From the sound of things it appears the on board NIC has failed on the unit not allowing you reach the web interface. Based on the age of the unit I would recommend replacing the printer.

No need to replace printer at this point as it still functions  properly with exception of access to "printer configuration web tool". It still functions as a network printer via Ethernet connection. That being said, do you still expect that the NIC is bad?

I'm pretty sure I've got a spare NIC from an earlier printer tear-down. I may switch them out just to see the result.

Joseph E,

I decided to change out the NIC since I had a spare....Spot On....I am able to connect to the web configuration tool. You were correct with the NIC failing. Since the old one is still useable I will still hold on to it in the event of power spike to the outlet that maintains the router ( past experience).

Thanks.
