Dell Printer 966 Installation Problem
Hi I'm using a 32bit vista laptop and having a issue with installing this printer. It keeps getting stuck on setup is updating your system screen. I have read through the forums for troubleshooting but evetytime I come across the post to say run the patch for printer removal utility, the link is always removed. How do I go about making sure everything is uninstalled and how do I get pass this screen??

Genzy,
First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print job in the queue.
Disconnect the printer.
Hit the Windows key and the x keys at the same time, programs and features, your printer, uninstall.
Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal
Download the Vista 32-bit drivers from...
Dell 966 Photo All-In-One Printer owners thread (W7)
Install the Vista drivers you’ll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time (powered on).
Remember virus programs and firewalls will block communications.

Hi, I've done the steps above. Uninstalled, did the delete jobs thing from the notepad, disabled AVG and firewall, reinstalled and still stuck on that screen

Genzy,
Printer can copy a document under the glass, black and white and color, even if the printer is not connected? Printer needs to be working before connected.
I suspect AVG is blocking communications. Can you uninstall AVG, then restart the computer. Install the printer using the above procedure. Then after the printer works, then reinstall AVG. I used to have instructions to allow a printer past AVG but they removed the information from AVG's website.
