Dell MFP e525W Won't Scan Properly
I have a MacBook Air (MBA) and an iMac wirelessly connected to my Dell MFP e525w printer/scanner/fax. I upgraded both the MBA and the iMac to Mac OS Big Sur. After the upgrade both print fine. The MBA scans with no problems. However, the iMac has not been able to scan properly since the upgrade. When I try to scan on the iMac, the overview phase starts, but instead of showing the document it just shows a blank screen with static and horizontal lines. I can't figure out why the scanner works perfectly on the MBA and doesn't on the iMac. They are set up the same way, unless there is some setting I'm missing that is on one and not the other. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

I have the exact same issue with my Dell 1765nfw. Before I upgraded my iMac to Big Sur, it would scan just fine. But after the upgrade, it's the same issue you described.

I have the same problem on both my iMac and MBP after updating to Big Sur.
Anyone heard of a work-around yet??

I have the same issue. Attempted the following:
1. Delete printer from System Preference, right-click "reset print system" Added printer and retried.
I repeated these steps using various print drivers- AirPrint, Secure AirPrint, Generic PostScript, all the same.
Also tried Image Capture, Photoshop v2021 and scanning from system preferences. Same results.
Noticed after upgrading to Big Sir and I'm on the current macOS. MacBook Pro 2016.

All the same steps as redrum138, but on a MacBook Pro 2017. Cannot scan.

Quick update after installing Big Sur 11.1 Reinstalled the current printer drivers from the Dell Support site. Repeating the Steps above now returns Freezes using Secure AirPrint and remains stuck on "Scanning document "Scan"" "Scanner reported an Error - Access to scanner is denied" using the generic post script drivers Import from device, in Photoshop, also freezes. Problems have changed but not fixed. Curious to see what others experience. Also exploring other printer/scanner options. I get that his is an older device, but pretty that Dell is no longer providing support or updated drivers. They have been very diligent about emailing me to offer "paid" technical support. No thanks!

Issues persist with Big Sur 11.2
If others want to chime in I think it would be helpful. Dell doesn't seem interested in providing a driver update.

Also, I can't send you a private message because I'm over my limit after sending ONE message to confirm my serial/model number. "DellDOESNTcare"
There, I fixed it.

Already tried that, Dell, this model printer is out of warranty and I won't pay for additional support. Update your drivers.
I'm giving this until the end of February and then I'm moving to HP.

Same here... scanning on a Dell E525w with my iMac late 2015 looks always like static screen noise (picture attached) under Mac OS Big Sur. Before the Mac OS Update everything worked.
On my wifes new Macbook Air M1 (also Big Sur) scanning works with the same settings (AirPrint Secure).
I would also appreciate any help on getting this fixed on my iMac without having to freshly install Big Sur (which i suppose to fix the problem).

I spent some time comparing my iMac with the Macbook Air to find out why scanning works on the Macbook but not on the iMac. Both have the latest Mac Os Big Sur. The Macbook Air is brand new and never had any Dell driver installed. The iMac is 5 years old and had a few Dell E525W driver installations / updates.
First thing i noticed after resetting the printer system is that not all Dell Drivers / Tools / Devices are deleted.
After some time i think i found the problem. On the iMac there is a programm used for scanninng and seemingly causes the problem. Unfortunately if you delete it scanning will no longer work ("unable to open programm").
/Library/Image Capture/Devices/Dell E525w Scanner (ICA)
On the other hand the folder /Library/Image Capture/Devices on the Macbook is empty and a MacOs scanning software used.
to be continued...
