Dell Document Hub recognizes E525w multifunction printer as a printer but NOT as a scanner.
Dell says that the Dell Document Hub supports the E525w, but that seems to be only partly true. After running the absolutely terrible Dell installation software that comes with this printer, and setting up the Dell Document Hub, the software eventually finds and recognizes the printer but only as a printer, not as a scanner.
Dell is the only company I can think of that builds and sells a "Multifunction Printer" that has absolutely no software support for any function other than printing. It seems that the hardware engineers thought it would be good to build a scanner, but the software people decided that the E525w ought to be just a barebones basic printer.
Bad enough that there isn't any desktop software for the "scanner" that supposedly is part of the E525w, but even when you try to use it from the panel on the printer, it won't scan to the PC because it says you need to configure it, but there is no software to do that and no instructions for doing it manually.
The E525w is a nice PRINTER and a decent copier, but totally worthless as a scanner.

And, oh by the way, interestingly enough when I tried searching online for information about the problem, one of the first results that I found was an "Expert Review" from when the E525w first came out -- they had exactly the same problem with Dell Document Hub recognizing the E525w as a printer but not as a scanner. www.expertreviews.co.uk/.../dell-e525w-review
