Dell Color Laser Printer Printing Faded Colors

Hello all,

I have a Dell C1760nw color laser printer and it's been printing faint, uneven color copies recently even after changing the toner. Has anyone run into this before or solved it?
Any suggestions appreciated.

You will need to replace the imaging drum unit (or transfer belt assembly); changing the toner won’t fix faded colors on that Dell C1760nw.

Hi

Research suggests this...

  • Run Auto Correct / Color Registration Adjustment from the printer’s Maintenance menu or Dell Tool Box. Dell’s C1760nw guide says to use the printed registration chart and enter the values if automatic correction does not fully resolve alignment.

  • Clean the CTD sensor only if the printer shows a CTD warning or the status monitor points to it. Dell’s documentation for the C1760nw says that cleaning this sensor is the correct step when that warning appears.

  • If you use non-Dell toner, check the printer’s Non-Dell Toner setting. A Dell community report on the C1760nw says changing that setting to On fixed very light output after other checks had not helped.

If the problem remains after a new toner, the next suspects are the drum/imaging unit or the fuser rather than the toner cartridge itself. Dell community advice for the related C1765 family points to drum or fuser problems when print remains faint or uneven after cartridge replacement. On some C1760nw cases, internal contamination in the main mechanics or color control system can also cause print defects, though that is a more advanced repair path.
