It sounds like you're having a couple of issues with your Dell C1660w printer. Here are some steps that you can try to resolve these issues:

  1. Flash error: When you unplugged the printer during a firmware update, it may have caused a corruption in the firmware. To resolve this issue, try performing a factory reset of the printer. To do this, turn off the printer, press and hold the "Continue" button, and then turn the printer back on while still holding the "Continue" button. Release the button when the LEDs start flashing. This should reset the printer to its factory settings and may resolve the flash error.

  2. Stuck firmware update: If the firmware update is stuck, it could be due to an issue with the firmware file or with the printer's connection to your computer. Make sure that your printer is connected to your computer via USB cable and that it is turned on. Try restarting your computer and then retrying the firmware update. If the firmware update still gets stuck, try downloading the firmware file again from the Dell website and then retrying the update.

  3. Windows 10 compatibility: The Dell C1660w printer is not officially supported on Windows 10. However, you can try installing the Windows 7 driver for the printer on your Windows 10 computer. To do this, download the Windows 7 driver from the Dell website and then run the installer in compatibility mode for Windows 7. To do this, right-click on the installer file, select "Properties", click on the "Compatibility" tab, and then select "Windows 7" as the compatibility mode.

If none of these steps resolve the issues with your printer, you may need to contact Dell support for further assistance or consider purchasing a newer printer that is compatible with Windows 10.

Eureka!    I have had this Dell C1660W collecting dust for  6 or 7 years.   I finally decided to throw it away.   But I thought I'd try once more after learning that most of the drivers created for printers are made by HP.  So I went to HP Drivers support and looked for  Generic Printer Drivers.  I Found the HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL6 (64bit)  downloaded this print driver which also had me do a Windows 10 Update   Version 22 H2 for 64bit based systems.  (KB5034843)  which took an awful long time to update my Windows 10 machine.   I'm unable to upgrade to windows 11 on this machine.

Here is the link: HP Printer Drivers (Universal)

This worked for me,  I hope it works for you!

@vishvajitd

Good morning, Sir,

Could you please tell me which button on the control panel of a Dell C1660W laser printer corresponds to the ‘Continue’ button?

I am experiencing an MCU 024-360 error and I no longer have access to this printer. This occurred following the firmware update recommended by DELL.

I would like to follow the advice you have given in this exchange.

My operating system is Windows 8.1.

Thank you in advance and have a great day!
