Dell AI 966 Installation and Wireless

Just got this printer from a friend with no install CD. When connecting via USB to Windows 7 desktop, had Windows 7 (64 bit) auto. detect and install drivers. After done, it appears to only have scan functions. Want to setup wireless as part of a home network with at&t router. Have tried deleting and rebooting. Same. The router appears to be the latest version firmware and has all the recommended settings as previous posts with problems with this printer.

So I need full printer functionality and to be able to use wirelessly. Have read previous posts and none of the suggestions were able to fix this.

Thank you for your message.

This printer model does not have a direct compatible driver for Windows 7. There may be limited functionality when there are no direct compatible drivers available.

Follow the instructions on this link http://dell.to/2v8MeA0 to remove the drivers.

Download the printer driver here http://dell.to/2uqml0Y install this in compatibility mode.

Disable the anti-virus & then try the driver installation & check if that helps.

surveysme,

Try this procedure and see if the printer installs.

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print job in the queue.

Disconnect the printer.

Hit the Windows key and the x keys at the same time, programs and features, your printer, uninstall.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal

Download the Vista 32-bit drivers for Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 32-bit or the Vista 64-bit drivers for Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 64-bit. Install the Vista drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode you’ll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time (powered on).
