Dell 2330dn printer on WPA2 network

We love our reliable old 2330dn, but now have need to set our printer in an area not wired for Ethernet.  No problem, I found and purchased the Dell 3300 wireless adapter, listed as the proper adaptor for this old printer.  However, upon receiving and trying to set it up, I learned it is not compatible with WPA2 encryption.  I'm not going to reduce security across my entire network, for the sake of one old printer, so this is not a viable solution.

I am wondering what success might be had by simply getting any generic USB wifi adaptor, and plugging that into the 2330dn?
