Cannot Retrieve Scan Applications List from Computer

I can't get my Dell V715w printer to download the list of scan applications from my Win 7 computer.

I reinstalled the printer drivers and software from Dell V715w Wireless All-In-One Printer owners thread (W7).

I use IE11. I have the balloon tips turned off and have checked the "Never show......" in the Printing Preferences.

I uninstalled and reinstalled ABBYY OCR.

I've deleted the Scan Hosts from the Configuration page of the printer server settings.

I've generated new lists of Scan Applications from the Dell Printer Home.

I've followed the procedures specified earlier...."Do things in this exact order. Wake the printer. Restart the computer and login.  After the computer connects, wait 2 minutes.  While waiting, on the printer, press the scan button. After the 2 minutes, on the printer, select the computer that you want to scan to. Then it should generate the applications that you have added using the Update list of applications to send scans to.

None of these things are working. Do you have any suggestions for me to get the printer to download the Scan Applications List?

By the way, the printer works fine in all other respects. It's a shared printer in a Win 7 / Win 8.1 Homegroup. There are no wireless, sharing, or permissions issues at all. Just the inability to download the list of scan applications.

shelquis,

I would try starting over.

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove stuck print job(s) from the queue, then restart your computer.

Make sure the printer is not usb cable connected.

Start, control panel, programs and features, your printer, uninstall. Make sure the printer was removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal

----------Do the above for all computers----------

On the printer, click on the wrench, look for reset the wireless adapter and reset it.

Download the drivers from Dell V715w Wireless All-In-One Printer owners thread (W7) If using Windows 8 or 8.1, install the drivers in the Vista SP2 Compatibility mode

On the first computer, choose new installation, network, then follow the instructions. It should ask for your network and the password.

On the second computer and additional computers, choose additional computer, network and follow the instructions.

Remember virus programs and firewalls will block communications.

(This will need to be done on all computers if you want to scan)

As for scanning, if you have the disk that came with the printer, then insert the Printer disk and stop it from running. Go to My Computer and double click on it. Look for the drive with the Dell disk in it. Right click on it, left click explore. Look for the OCR Folder. In the OCR Folder, there is an Abbyy Folder. right click on setup.exe, that's in the Abbyy Folder and left click run as administrator. This will install the OCR program.

Update list of applications to send scans to

shelquis,

You said...

This printer is a wireless printer and does not have to be a shared printer. You print directly to the printer from any computer. Desktop computers that are on your network can also print wirelessly, because the signal from the ethernet cable to the wireless router allows them to print.

Virus programs and firewalls will block communications.

Well, I just completed what I thought was a nuclear solution to the problem, and.it.had.no.effect.

I uninstalled IE11. Ended up with IE10. I uninstalled V715w from CP>Programs and Features. I reinstalled the original driver from the V715w CD. I did not let it go to the internet for an updated driver. This is the same driver I used for years with no problems reading the scan destination list. I thought sure this would put me back in the same situation. But WHAM, no change in behavior. When I push the scan button on the printer, it shows me my computer (not my wife's), and when I click OK, it says it's downloading scan applications, but then follows that up with a message that it can't retrieve the list of scan applications. After having gone back to the driver that worked so good for so long, I was completely blown away that I still had the same issue. I even went back, repeated the process, except the second time I installed the driver as a New Printer, the first time I had installed it as a Different Computer. For each of those driver installations, I deleted the Scan to Network Hosts and created a new list of Scan Applications in Dell Printer Home. I sequenced my restarts and waited 2 minutes for the printer to find the new list, and it hasn't yet. What else can I try?

Is the fact that it's not showing my wife's computer on the possible scan destinations perhaps a clue? It used to show both computers, now it's only showing mine.

Rick, I finally got around to doing what you suggested. It worked. The only thing different this time was that I reset the wireless adapter. I have absolutely no idea why that would fix my Scan Applications problem, but it apparently did. Other than that, there was nothing else I hadn't already tried. At any rate, thanks for your help. I got my Scan Applications list back like I wanted.

I'm having the same dilemma with my 625 all in one printer scanner.  Last week it was fine but I get the "can't retrieve info" message when I try to scan to send to my email.  I've restarted, unplugged, cussed, uninstalled and reinstalled and cussed some more.  Help?
