B2360d Printer - vertical dark shading & lines

Years ago, there was a discussion about getting the B2360d to pull automatically from the MP feeder.  The fix was to change the engine 2 setting to 8 through the Diagnostics menu.  This worked great and I was fine for nearly 2 years.  Recently started dark vertical shading and lines on the left side of printouts.  Cleaning and cartridge replacement did not help, so replaced with another B2360d in our office.  Prints great until I changed the engine 2 setting on this printer and now it too has dark vertical shading & lines.  Never associated the lines with this setting change, but seems too much of a coincidence that it would start when I changed settings.  I returned settings to their original values, but problem remains.  Any suggestions?
