AIO 922 right cartridge incorrect

I replaced my black and color cartridges and now the printer shows "right cartridge incorrect" and printed pages come out blank.  I have shut the printer off, re-positioned the cartridge, and done other troubleshooting stuff without any change.  Someone please help me!!!  I have school work that needs to be printed!!!

Strange.  I just had the exact same issue.  Came here looking for an answer.  If I figure anything out, I'll post it here.  Appreciate the same if you do too.

By the way, my Axim just died too.  I'm having a bad Dell day today.  Crossing my fingers my laptop doesn't die next.  It usually comes in threes.

My printer is an AIO 962.  Otherwise, it's the exact same issue.

Also, I got it without replacing anything.  I had some new cartridges so I tried them too.  No joy.

That darn Right Cartridge Incorrect scrolling across there mocking me is driving me nuts.

In an emergency, this sometimes works.

Go to printer preferences in control panel. select print color in black and white.

This may allow you to print your black and white school work.

Hello, this is the third AIO 962 printer I have been given by Dell. I always have the same problem, "right cartridge incorrect". I have done all necessary troubleshooting steps to no avail. These printers are garbage. I cannot get in touch with anyone at Dell to help me. I have had this problem since 2004. I may smash the printer to pieces, it would be worth more to me...Dell's customer care is pathetic. I am so sorry I purchased a Dell. Should have went with HP. No amount of troubleshooting will get rid of this problem, "right cartridge incorrect". I HAVE HAD IT!

I'm starting to feel the same way about Dell.  I am actually getting an HP printer. I just spent between $50 - $60 on ink that I can't even use now.

Thanks.  I was just starting to feel good about my situation...

Dell's shipping me a new AIO 962 after I finally convinced them I've exhausted all my options with this one - including installing brand new cartridges.

Guess I'll see what the MTBF (mean time between failure) on this one.  I got about 9 months out of this one...

You are lucky.  I have had my printer for 15 months so my warranty is expired.  It is ridiculous that Dell won't help me w/o charging me.

Yeah, I'm a college student tackling the same problem- went on winter break for 3 weeks, came back, and my 922 keeps telling me the right cartridge is incorrect.  I called Dell and they told me it was probably a defunct color cartridge, so they sent me another one, and sure enough, now it says "missing color ink cartridge."  I really hope I don't have to get a new printer though.

This may work for some of the problem printers.

Remove ink carts. Soak print head nozzles on bottom of ink carts in 1/2 inch of hot water for 15 minutes. Blot bottom of ink cart with clean paper towel. You should see the ink colors on the paper towel.

Also wipe electrical contacts on back of ink carts with clean paper towel. An invisible oxcide coating on the contacts can give the readings you see. Replace and retry.

If problem is not corrected, turn off printer, remove AC power cord and USB cable from back of printer for 1 minute. Replug and retry.

Many ink carts including Dells, contain electronics and many micro ink nozzles and pumps. Ink carts can go bad and cause most of these indications. New ink carts can be bad when they arrive new. I doubt if any of the printers are broken. Most of the time the problem is only with the ink carts.

Yeah, I tried all of those things but my scanner doesn't even work either.  If it were just the ink cartridges I could understand, but the scanner being disabled as well?

my scanner still works.  It's just the ink that is a problem.

I got a replacement printer today, and I'm back up and running.  My first experience w/Dell support was excellent.   Very fast and professional resolution.   I've owned and used many Dell laptops and workstations over the years w/no problems.  This is my first printer.  Hopefully, I have better luck w/this one.  Good luck to everyone having similar issues.

I have printed some basic color documents, just after install the printer, all was fine the first month, maybe the first 3 weeks.

Suddenly got this message on printer display, i haven't change the cartridges: both came with the printer from store!

I just take off the color cartridge and make the printer use the black, wich still has 59pct of ink.

I hope someone at Dell could tell us some other answers about this.

I just came on here and couldn't belived how many people are having the same problem.  I too, had not even changed a cartridge.  It was working fine last night and when I started it up today, I got the message.  I'll let you know if I find anything out.  I am trying not to call Dell.  This printer is the second one they have shipped under warranty- I had a similar problem with it only months after I bought it and I didn't want to have to through that #!* again.

Yeah my scanner started working again once I re-installed everything, and as for the ink, I called Dell and talked to someone on the troubleshooting line and they ended up sending me a brand new color cartridge, turns out the original cartridge just malfunctioned and the first one they sent me was the incorrect kind (J5567).  They sent me a new M4646 like my original one, and now it works just fine.
