313w printer has quit

I have a 313w printer which stopped printing.  Window would open stating "printing", but nothing happened.  After many tries, I tried fresh install.  Now, I cannot even get the printer to work with usb cable (nothing happens, although says "printing"), and wireless light only shows orange. I do  not have Wi Fi Protected button on router (it not functioning), so I am lost how to get this printer installed and working.  The printer refers to PIN method, but I have no idea where to enter that info. Any ideas?  Thanks.

Problem solved.   Apparently uninstall was not removing everything.  Went thru list and there was another 313 listed. Once that was uninstalled, everything went fine.  Tx for you time.

gman56,

Power off your ISP modem/router and your wireless router(if any) for 30 seconds. Then power on the ISP modem/router. Wait 15 seconds, then power on the wireless router(if any)

Unplug the printer from the wall. Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in. Let the printer process. What color is the light, green or orange?

gman56,

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove stuck print job(s) from the queue, then restart your computer.

Make sure the printer is not usb cable connected.

Start, control panel, programs and feature, your printer, uninstall.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer was removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal

If you have the printer disk, with the computer online, insert the printer disk, choose new installation, wireless and follow the instructions. It should prompt you to connect the printer with the usb cable then ask for your network SSID and password. When you disconnect the printer, when prompted, the light should turn green.

I get as far as plugging in the printer cable when prompted, but all that happens is a circle like something is downloading, but it keeps spinning.  Tonights it has spun for 2 hours, so something isn't right, clearly. Any other suggestions?

gman56,

Can you copy a document under the glass? Black and white and color? No computer needs to be attached to try this. The printer needs to be working before the printer will install.

it copies, but just wont install.  I get message that printer not communicating with computer.  Tried three different cables, just in case, with same results.  I have never heard of printer being impossible to install, especially since it used to work without issue.  Now, if I just plug in the printer cable to install drivers, it doesn't work, or, if I use install disc, it won't install.

Download the Vista 32-bit drivers for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 32-bit or the Vista 64-bit drivers for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 64-bit. Install the Vista drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on).

Links to the drivers can be found at...

Dell V313 All-In-One Printer owners thread

Remember virus programs and firewalls will block communications.

I tried, but there is clearly something wrong.  I cannot even connect using a usb cable.  Keep getting the "communication  not available" message.  I even installed after turning off firewall and virus programs.  I just never heard of not being able to install a printer,; I have done it so many times.  There is definitely something preventing the complete installation.  If I hadn't just bought new ink cartridges, i would have thrown this out the window already.  This should be as easy as uninstalling printer, and installing by  plugging in the printer cable,  using the install disc, or installing from website.  ll three methods lead to same road.
