2330d, work with Windows 10 (32x and 64x)

If you go on Dell's website and download the windows 10 driver for the 2330d printer, it will install but Windows will still say that the driver is unavailable.  If you have searched for a solution before you might have stumbled upon this thread:  https://www.dell.com/community/Printers/dell-2330dn-driver-unavailable-under-windows-10/m-p/4656284

However while the given solution there will get the printer to be recognized, you will lose capability of printing on both sides as well as various other functions.

Fortunately I have come up with a new solution to getting this printer properly installed.

Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Download page www.dell.com/.../drivers
  2. Select the operating system and download the driver with the category name of 'Drivers for OS Deployment'.
  3. Save the file to computer and Run the installation.
  4. Install the driver as you normally would; navigate through the installer.  This step is important for later.
  5. When the installer finishes, close it.
  6. Run the installer again and don't touch it.  Leave it open and put it to one side.
  7. Navigate to your user's appdata folder and open Local.
    1. Open the program 'RUN' by searching for it.
    2. Type in the following: %localappdata%
  8. Go into the temp folder
  9. Once inside search for a file called 'RarSFX1'  (yours might be different.  If you don't have this file, repeat step 6 and when the first window says it is extracting the files for installation, watch to which folder it extracts it to.  You will see it under 'destination folder').
  10. Copy this entire folder to somewhere else, i.e. the Desktop.
  11. Now cancel the Dell printer installer.
  12. Open the program 'Device Manager' by searching for it.
  13. Go under 'unknown devices' or 'other devices' and locate your printer (it might also appear under 'printers').
  14. Right Click your printer and select 'Update driver'.
  15. When prompted, choose the option to 'browse the computer for the driver'.
  16. Browse to the location of the 'RarSFX1' folder that you copied, select it and hit OK.  Make sure that 'Include subfolders' is checked.
  17. Click on 'Next' and windows should locate and manually install the driver.

If Windows said that it was installing the driver, then your printer should work just fine now.  If Windows still says that the printer's driver is unavailable, try restarting.  If it still doesn't, try going through the steps again.

This solution is for the 2330d printer but it might also work for other Dell printers with similar problems.  Just make sure to modify these steps for your printer in question.

If you have trouble finding your RarSFX01 folder, I had to go to the Temp folder in my Admin user's profile, not the user I was currently logged in as.

Extract with 7z the exe file Dell_2330_2350_ACH_Admin and navigate to X:\\Dell_2330_2350_ACH_Admin\drivers\Print\Win_2kXP and choose from there.
