1720, suddenly, no power
Hello Everyone,
I have had this printer for some time and I suppose its possible the printer has just given up on me, however...
I used this printer the other day, 2 or 3 days ago, and it printed fine. No problems whatsoever.
Today I tried to printer something and the nothing happened.
In Settings > Printer & Scanners the printer is listed as offline.
When I look at the printer there are no lights lit up at all, nothing.
Its as if there is no power getting to the printer.
What I have tried:
- Double check that the power cord was indeed plugged in, both to a power outlet and the printer.
- Checked the printer cable, made sure it was plugged in, both to the CPU and the printer.
- Flipped the power switch, on the back of the printer, off and on.
- Changed out the power cable, its just a standard computer power cable, there's nothing special about it.
As I mentioned, its as if the printer were turned off or unplugged, but its not. What have I missed? What can I check to determine if this is fixable or if I need to replace the printer.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
Jim

I was really hoping someone would have a new idea.

Hi Jim,
I just experienced the same exact problem today. The printer is completely dead. Did you repair your's and if so what did you replace?
Thanks

Same thing on my 1720 Laser printer. Printed pages just fine yesterday, and when I try to power on, it clicks, all LEDs light up for a quarter-second, then clicks off. Dead, non-responsive. Anyone else have and fix this issue? I like this little printer! -Russell

Same thing on mine today. Printed yesterday. This morning it's as though the power cable's disconnected (but it's not).

Same problem with my 1720 that is over 10 years old. I turned it off last night, which I never do, and tried to turn it back on this morning. Slight click, all the lights flash for a moment, then nothing. I switched power cords and used a known good wall outlet. Nothing. I'm afraid all these had a life expectancy and we're reached it.
