Windows 11 23H2 P2425HE DisplayPort with WD19 Dock regularly goes into standby and does not wake

Hi,

Our company is starting to roll out Windows 11 (enterprise), and is deploying Windows 11 23H2. Since upgrading my Dell Precision 3571 to Windows 11, my WD19 dock seems to have issues with the P2425HE monitor connected via DisplayPort. When this monitor goes into standby after being idle, there is a high chance of it not resuming from standby automatically. The monitor is on and visible and detected in Display Settings, just it does not output anything and won't wake. Normally my laptop is docked with the lid closed and this monitor is my primary, so this causes a bit of issues, as the Windows 11 login screen is being "displayed" as it is active but there's no output and the indicator light is slow blinking as if there is no signal or input.

I have another monitor P2425E connected via the HDMI port on the dock and it does not have this problem, it seems specific to either DisplayPort, the P2425HE monitor itself or the WD19 dock, but Windows 11 would seem to be the main culprit, given that's the major change that's occurred recently. I've also tried connecting the P2425HE via the USB-C input, but this also appears to behave the same way. To force the display to show input when it goes into this state, I can some of the time use the WD19 power button, but even then sometimes this doesn't work and I have to physically remove the USB-C cable from the dock and re-plug it.

Under Windows 10 I had no such issues, so changing cables and such doesn't really seem like it will do anything given it worked fine under Windows 10 for over a year and likely not a hardware issue, more likely since Windows 11 something is different. During the Windows 11 upgrade itself I had it connected to the WD19 dock and at one point the P2425HE monitor suddenly wouldn't even output anything at all with an input timing error warning shown on the monitor screen, this occurred before the Windows 11 completed but around 70-80% through the upgrade, so it makes me think something within Windows 11, as by this point the upgrade would have been mostly loading Windows 11 itself by this stage is not liking something.

I have done all the latest firmware for both my laptop and WD19 dock, display drivers and monitor firmware, the problem remains and is annoying. As far as I know the WD19 dock is compatible with Windows 11 by Dell's documentation.

Any ideas of what I can do to try and remedy this?

To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them.  +Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.

This latest firmware update released 26th March seems to have potentially helped the issue, but it is hard to confirm as the issue is/was transient to begin with.

I did also find out the Realtek Ethernet driver for the Dell WD19 dock was out of date, however I doubt that had any impact on display related areas, although the P2425HE monitor is one of the devices this driver is compatible with.

Since applying the latest Dell WD19 series firmware the issue now seemed resolved.
