Wifi intermittently works

Hello,

I have a Dell Precision 5520 laptop. The WiFi seems to intermittently work. The icon will change from the WiFi icon to the LAN icon and my internet connection with fail. This happens several times an hour. Very frustrating. My question is would replacing the WiFi card either with an original spec or an upgrade be the solution. If I replace it, what would be a good upgrade?

Thanks!

Hi

Well you don't actually mention what Wi-Fi is fitted.

There seem to be no W11 drivers listed, so maybe it is the OS?  Energy Saving mode turning off the device?

It's the stock one. Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 Energy saving mode is off. Drivers are all updated.

Hi

Yet again a lack of detail.

There are no W11 Pro drivers listed for the Precision 5520, so where/how did you do it.

I did find this ...

The recommended Wi-Fi driver for an Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 on Windows 11 Pro is Intel's last official release, version 20.70.32.1, included in package version 22.200.2. This driver supports both Windows 10 and Windows 11 64-bit systems and is marked as "End of Life," so no future updates will be provided, but it remains stable for your hardware.

The Dell one is 22.130.0, so maybe the one below is better.

The installer file is named WiFi-22.200.2-Driver64-Win10-Win11.exe.

Download the file from Intel's official support page for Wireless-AC 8265.

Intel and Realtek adapters are mostly integrated with Windows 11 25H2 ISO

I keep drivers on a USB stick for recent machines that lack drivers for the latest Intel logic
