Thermal Materials for the M6600 Heat Sinks
I believe the Nvidia Quadro 3000M video adapter went bad in my M6600. I had noticed that the card was causing freezing and crashes when used. However, if only the the Intel integrated graphics were used the system was somewhat stable and usable. I ran diagnostics on it when it was still running and the voltage regulators on the video adapter card were reported running extremely hot. A little later after that system stopped working all together.
I ordered a used replacement card of the same type and installed that. Although I the seller shipped the card to me wrapped only in cardboard wrappers without any static protective bag. When I disassembled the M6600 system I noticed some rather delicate white thermal material that was sandwiched between layers of thin fibrous cloth along with some blueish foam like material that bridged the space between some of the inductors and voltage regulators and the GPU heat sink. When I installed the replacement card I tried to change these materials over to the replacement card, so that its components would be cooled properly. The replacement card failed to work exactly as the original card failed to work. So, I am guessing the replacement card is bad as well.
In any case, my concern is with the thermal material. When I took out the replacement card, to run the M6600 with only the integrated video adapter, which works as expected, I noticed that only some of the thermal material had successfully bridged the gap between the replacement card and the heat sink. As an additional note I noticed that some of the blueish thermal foam has fallen out of where is should have been on the voltage regulators of the original GPU, and it is my guess that that is the cause that led to the overheating and eventual failure of the original GPU.
So, my questions are: What are these thermal materials and where can I obtain more new materials for repair work, and where can I get documentation about how and where to place there materials when reinstalling the GPU and CPU heat sinks?
Best regards,

Search for thermal pad. The thickness are vary from 0.5mm to 2mm. Get 1mm soft pad and it can be pressed or double up to fit all gaps.

That's helpful. The blue stuff is apparently Arctic TP. The white stuff is almost like silicon caulk sandwiched between two layer of gauze. It tends to squish out and fall apart rather easily.
Do you know if the voltage regulators for the video card are located on the video card itself or are located on the system main board? I ask because after a closer look at the original video card I pulled from the system, what I thought were the voltage regulators seem to be capacitors instead.
I'm still in need of some reference information on where to place the thermal pads. I remember most of the places, although a reference would be good. The owners manual lacks any such information, and I have had trouble locating any more detailed repair manual for the M6600 that might contain that information.
