Sound hiccups on new Precision 7780
I am really hoping that someone knows how to fix this because it is really annoying.
This system is not even a week old, and the sound has been an issue since I got it.
The sound has a hiccup in it at random intervals. I tried to see if it was at the same intervals and tried to time it, but it’s not at the same intervals.
It is just that, a hiccup. It is an interruption. Sort of like a half second gap in the music or sound.
It does not matter what program or software I am using. It happens with iTunes, Pandora, Amazon music.
Has anyone experienced this or not the fix for it?

It's from some sort of software/driver conflict from installed audio programs which are useless bloat. An immediate fix is: right click speaker icon in bottom right, click volume mixer, click top left icon for current audio output source, click enhancements tab and select 'Disable all Enhancements'. You may have to reload your video tab or whatever audio program, and I also have to remove and reconnect my bluetooth headphones to stop the same behavior you're describing when my Laptop resumes from sleep.
That's always fixed it for me as it stops other programs from trying to hijack your audio playback, but a permanent fix would be removing or disabling every program/service that isn't either the Realtek or whatever speaker chipset or the Windows default bluetooth audio drivers. I've seen this a million times with 'Waves' and other OEM bloatware conflicting with the default driver.

@Mike1788
I tried doing what you said but I don’t have the option to click top left icon for current audio output source, click enhancements tab and select 'Disable all Enhancements'.
If I click on the current output device, I don’t get an enhancements tab.
Maybe I am doing something wrong.

@LynHolder
Yes, I have updated the drivers a few times and it makes no difference.

I also have the same issue, very annoying for such a high spec laptop. The audio devices all have the same issue when using this laptop, but this does not happen with other devices that are connected (phone or other PC's), so must be Precision 7780 BTX laptop specific.

@cjhmasonw tell me about it. With all the money that I spent to get this laptop, and they can't get the sound hiccup to go away. I have been dealing with it for over a year now and it is still annoying.
If you or anyone ever finds a solution for it, please post it here or send me a message. I would like to get this resolved.
It's quite obvious that no one from Dell reads these forums.

So I got a Bluetooth dongle a UGREEN CM748 and after plugging this in and turning off the internal one in the device manager, the audio is so much better, doesn't seem to do the hiccup thing any more. It still takes a while for headset to connect, so there must be something else going on still.

@cjhmasonw my issue was not from using a headset. It was from using the USB port that I have my surround sound system plugged into.
