SOLVED: XPS/Precision Rubber Coating Sticky (Palmrest, Carbon Fiber finish, etc)

I came here because I found this post by searching for this problem I have with my 4-year-old Precision 5530 (same design as XPS): https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/xps/xps-rubber-coating-sticky/647f9e93f4ccf8a8de330b75?page=1

The fancy black carbon-fiber finish on the palm rest part got sticky over the years. I am posting a new thread because that one^ is now closed.

I just wanted to say, that thanks to @PowrUsr.com 's post from last October, the problem has been solved for me. It was the last suggestion I tried and the last one I would have thought would work. It was the BABY POWDER! I really would like to understand WHY this works! But, for now, I don't really care. I'm just really glad finally something fixed the sticky gross palm rest issue.

Also, credit to this guy's 11-year-old YouTube video I followed on how to do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1Xmg5Gst0U

I actually did it 3 times, and the last time I didn't wipe it with a moist papertowel, just the dry one. For me, that seems to leave the finish looking best. It's not as good as new, but it's 4 years old, I didn't expect it to. But it certainly doesn't look horrible, and it is so worth it to get rid of the nasty sticky feeling.

NOTE: You probably want to have a little hand air blower or pressurized air handy to blow powder out of the little button cracks, and try not to get too much in there. But, you shouldn't need a ton of powder either. Go easy on it. A little is plenty.
