Red X on speaker icon on Dell Precision 7530

I have a Dell Precision 7530 and suddenly the audio stopped working.

There is a red X on the speaker icon.

The audio driver is installed (as shown in the image).

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, but the issue is still there.

The audio was working fine before this happened.

Any help would be appreciated

Try to toggle volume up to see if the red X will go away.

It's either Control Panel > Sounds or Control Panel > System > Sounds.  Male sure everything isn't shut off except for may be System Sounds.  And...

Right click speaker icon in taskbar.  Open the window that shows separate volumes.  Make sure everything isn't muted.

I moved this thread over to Precision Mobile Workstations.

@bradthetechnut

As shown in the image It says "no output devices found" and on the window you told me to go to it says: no audio devices installed

I noticed in the Device Manager screengrab there's no ⚠️ by anything.  Most of the screengrabs I can't read.

Short of reinstalling the OS, I'm out of ideas.  Besides, laptops aren't my normal area of expertise.  This thread was in Precision Towers.

We'll have to see if @Chino de Oro has anymore ideas.  Those with laptop expertise may also chime in.

I had this exact problem happen all of a sudden on a Precision M6800. Nothing I did in software was able to fix it. The only way I could get sound back was by using a USB sound card, and later a USB soundbar.

Because only a hardware bypass worked, I put the issue down to a motherboard or audio board fault.
