Randomly many WD19DCS Docks not passing enough power to Precision laptops anymore
Precision models 5570 and 7550 one after other having the same issue of not getting enough power from WD19DCS Docks. All have NVIDIA cards. Started in about a week or so ago and it keeps progressively affecting our users, count of 18 by now. All peripherals attached to dock are functional. All possible fixes from Dell recommended device resets to updates to fresh Win 11 OS installs have not solved the problem. This situation is getting pretty bad here with all our users being on those laptops and docking stations. Clearly this can't be a broken hardware, it has to be the combo of updates. Dell - please address this ASAP. Thanks!

@DellOwen In your case start with resetting the docking station: disconnect from laptop, disconnect power cord and hold down power button on dock for 30 sec; plug power back to dock, wait for 5 sc and connect it to laptop. If that is not helping, please go to Support for Precision 5680 | Drivers & Downloads | Dell US and make sure you get the docking station update installed and graphics updates - built-in Intel and if you have an added card like NVIDIA etc then that one, too and a good old restart after that. Hope this helps! We are past that point but today found a BIOS update from Dell for Precisions 5570's that was released January 20th (was not available for download on 23rd) -after running that update the 5570 line machines have not problems with the WD19DCS docking stations anymore. Hoping that similar update addressing the USB-C/Thunderbolt issues to 7550 is coming out soon so we can move on.

Dear @jeanne555 ,
I'm seeing that you're having issues with your WD19DCS Dock not delivering enough power to your two Precision models 5570, and 7550, for your users.
I recommend you do a power drain from each dock by unplugged AC power from the docks and holding the power button for 30 seconds, if you haven't done that already.
If that doesn't work I recommend you try these:
Dell Dock Firmware Update Service Agent | Driver Details | Dell US
Dell Dock WD19/WD22 Series Firmware Update Utility | Driver Details | Dell US
I recommend you download an older version of both to see if your current version is outdated or even messed up as updates can usually fix or break devices depending on what the manufacturer pushes out.
Let me know.

@Alienware Area-51 ALX 2006 Thanks so much for your suggestion. The dock reset procedure is what we do here a lot to troubleshoot connectivity issues and yes - in 90% of cases it does take care of the miscellaneous problems. not this wave of trafficking power issues.

@A51-06
Same just happened to me. Recent updates were pushed by IT and we are not always shown what updates those were. Now my Displayport monitors are not functional (turning on and off every few seconds) and my Precision 5680 complains that it is not getting enough power, even though nothing changed on the WD19DCS dock itself. LAN and USB is also flaky. Similar issues with this laptop and a TB16 dock also.
I have an XPS 15 that works perfectly with both of the docks.

Just to clarify the case with Dell Precision 7550. Case started about January 16.
All devices are running Windows 11 and build is version?
Dell Command Update 5.4 is run and all latest updates are installed.
Dell WD19DC or WD19DCS firmware is version 01.00.44, 01.00.28, release date 28 Nov 2024.
Do you use some extra Dell software as Dell Optimizer. If yes which version. Is it complete installation
with all options?
What kind of message do you get. Can you provide a screenshot?
I am using Windows 11 January 14, 2025—KB5050009 (OS Build 26100.2894)
So far I have not heard anything related to this kind of case.
We have only Dell Precision 7XXX models.

@heikkuri Hi, thank you for your suggestions and questions, really appreciate it. We are using WD19DCS docks only. All at latest 01.00.28 version. With Dell Optimizer - it has been causing issues with several rendering apps and a specific AutoCAD version therefore we have removed it from machines on an as needed base. Machines affected - some of them have Optimizer still and on some it has been removed. Windows 11 build 26100.2894. As per earlier reply it looks like the BIOS update that Dell released for 5570 line fixed the problem and all those laptops are back to normal behavior with docks connected.
