Random performance drops on Precision 5570
Hello, the title pretty much presents my whole issue, namely the fact that i have random freezes or performance issues on my precision 5570, here are the specs:
- Intel core i7-12800H
- 32 GB DDR5 Ram
- Nvidia Quadro RTX A2000 8gb
- Samsung 980 PRO 1tb
I have noticed that at any moment i could get a random performance drops, though I haven't yet checked if this is regarding the GPU or the CPU, as sometimes it seems to freeze my whole computer, including any audio playing and other times it's just graphical issues, which mostly happens in games, but it did happen on occasion in other programs, such as premiere pro, and even on my live wallpaper it is quite noticeable sometimes. it can randomly go from like 100+ fps, down to 20 even 10 sometimes, and after maybe a couple of minutes it seems to go away and return, which makes it very frustrating to use the laptop.
At first, I thought it was the screen, but I found my answer pretty quickly when I got my Samsung monitor which is connected through the WD19TB Dock via DisplayPort. Can anyone tell me if they had similar issues, and if so, how they fixed it and if I should contact dell support about this issue, as it is still under warranty even though i'm not the original buyer of this laptop.

Sounds like it's throttling. Is it clean internally?

@ejn63 i have done a thorough cleaning when I first got it, cleaned the fans, changed the thermal paste for some new Arctic MX4, I thought about that, but I don't think I noticed anything abnormal with task manager, but I'll check some more

i did some tests using AIDA64, namely a stability test, and although after the fans kick in the thermal throttle is at 0% i still find the mouse kind of catching, or hanging every second basically and the graphics card that is in use is the integrated one, and the nvidia one seems to be randomly going, from 0 % to 100%, and the system might be hanging every time the nvidia card kicks in, although i am not very sure, will continue to monitor these things

I've had this issue for SO long. I don't have a solution yet. I think it's just VERY poor thermal regulation and Dell simply doesn't care. I've just gotten my heatsink and fans replaced, and the issue does not seem to be resolved. At one point I had modified some bios settings to disable the laptop attempting to manage its own processor power, but it wasn't a permanent fix.
I've been troubleshooting this for over a year, and it's very possible this is just a poorly designed system. If you get to the root of it let me know, I've spent hours on attempting to troubleshoot with Dell but it's very difficult to replicate, because it only happens when the computer is under load/has been on for a while as far as I can tell.
The best way to get it to show the issue is with a video game where it immediately starts driving heat and power, but even then it's tough to pin down. Sometimes it will work fine 100+fps then suddenly tank itself, only to resume a moment later.

@dokasal i haven't gotten around to testing it much since I replaced the motherboard, and I got a slightly faulty one, but in some cases it seemed to work better, and now I'm sending it to Dell for a extensive repair

The 5570 may be a biggest hunk of overpriced JUNK Dell has ever produced. I had my 3rd motherboard replaced today? It has been nothing but trouble since day 1 and Dell doesn't care, because there enough fools like me who purchase this poor excuse for a reliable Laptop. No more when the warranty runs out, it goes to eBay and i plan to purchase a Lenovo. A little heavier but higher quality build and components. Unfortunately Dell has scammed a lot of people into buying this.

I got precision 5570 at work and the laptop is junk. Overheating, lagging and not performing with just basic tasks. I dont want to see dell on my desk ever again. Looking forward to switch to another manufacturer in a few months.
