RAM memory issue
Hello.
I think that I had a ram failure due to overheating. I had the 2 amber, 4 white error code. I tried to reset the RAM memory and that did not work. I tried to replace the RAM and that also did not work. (2x16 gb configuration).
The system works with a single RAM chip, but not with a chip placed in the third slot. Does not matter if I'm using a 2x16 or a 4x16 configuration, any time a chip is inserted into the second slot the computer does not boot and I get the 2 amber, 4 white error code.
Is there any way to repair or somehow reset that second RAM slot, or is my only option to run the system with a single RAM chip?
Thank you.

The only fix for a bad memory socket is a replacement system board.

If the system overheated to the point that components were damaged, then the whole system is now suspect. Replacing the motherboard (vs. getting a new system) is probably worth a shot, but I'd balance any cost savings against the chance that either a) it won't solve the problem; and/or, b) other components are also at or near failure (and their symptoms may be masked by the RAM issue).
