Precision 7760 Ultra Low Performance, Battery Problem

Hello I've been having issues with my 7760, today I arrived at work and connected my laptop to my dock

and suddenly the laptop started to get ultra mega slow, even on bios, I'm on bios 1.5, everything is up to date, including dock and peripherals.  What is weird is that if I disconnect the AC the laptop will turn off, that includes the dock and directly from AC brick, I tried multiple bricks and docks, the laptop wont turn on from battery alone neither.

I RTC the bios and nothing happened, after that I started the bios and did a self diagnosis and the battery was not being detected.  We open up the lid and remove the battery, pressed the power button for 30 seconds and after that the laptop turn back on again.

The issue is that whenever I swap from docks the problem starts over again, if the computer goes to sleep the problem pops up again.  Please Help.  At 0.18GHz even the sounds came out like a Wolf with Covid19.  Thanks

@heikkuri Seems like the issue was part of the 1.5 bios and a pretty isolated one.  After flashing to 1.6.1 the computer is booting normally when I change from dock to dock.  I will update if anything changes, the thread could be closed. I will mark your answer as the solution.  Thanks to you and Dell Care for all the help they provided over the PMs

hi everybody and thank you @heikkuri, same problem here, since then the version 1.6.1 is disappeared from the support site i humbly ask you or @KeAbRaMe  if it's possible to share somehow a copy of the kit, just to give it a try, nothing production serious.

all the best and thanks again

Hi,

I have Precision_7X60_1.7.0 file if you want to test. I have am still using this because I have not yet seen any problems in my usage.

I can also dig from my backup Precision_7X60_1.6.1 file, but it will take few days.

So what files do you want to try? One solution is to reinstall 1.5.0.

I had this problem with Precision 7760 after about a month of buying it. The system was running super slow and turned off when the power was disconnected (aka battery was not engaging). Support had me reload the OS and the problem remained.  I had to mail in my system to the Dell advanced resolution center and they fixed it.

Mine was not charging either. I had to take off the back and reseat the battery cable. Now it's working. But the battery life is really bad... three hours max. Does anyone know how to extend it?

Thanx

I have the same issue with my brand new Precision 7760. This is really insane.

Bios updates (gradually from 1.2.2 to 1.12) and OS reinstall didn't resolve the problem. Laptop is absolutely slow and battery is not recognized. Can you imagine a laptop that is not being charged after you open its package!

Worst experience with my entire life ever!

bugur

I see that our agents sent you private messages to perform steps to help determine the issue. What was the outcome?

I have the same issue, but on BIOS 1.8.0

After BIOS update to 1.21 i tried to disconect the battery but unsuccessfully. The issue persists (CPU locked to 0.18 Ghz, don't work on battery and battery health fail in BIOS diagnostics)
