Precision 7720 Won't Charge From AC Adapter
I have a Precision 7720 that will not charge from the AC adapter while the laptop is up and running. If the laptop is off, it will charge but slowly. If the laptop is on the docking station it will charge perfectly with zero issues. The laptop is five years old running Window 10 and has worked great until now.
The BIOS states that the AC adapter is unknown.
Attempts to fix with zero luck:
Tried brand new Dell 240W AC Adapter
Tried brand new Dell battery
Updated BIOS
Updated all drivers
Updated Windows 10
Ran Dell troubleshooting
Ran Windows 10 troubleshooting
Did the uninstall then reboot of the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and Microsoft AC Adapter trick from device manager (with the battery physically removed)
Said nice things to laptop
Said not so nice things to laptop
I am at the end of my rope. Any ideas? Can the AC adapter power jack be bad? Can that be replaced on this model? I don't think this is a motherboard issue since it will charge and work perfectly off of the docking station.

If you tried a genuine Dell adapter and battery with no luck then the next step would be to replace the DC jack. That jack is out of stock at Parts-People here. But you can find it at DCJKS here. If that does not work then it may be a problem with the charging circuit on the MB.
You can try a reset but that may have no effect. To reset disconnect the adapter and the battery. Then press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Now reconnect everything and try again.

After some spark inside my 7710 I opened up and found two burnt components on top right side of motherboard near power rail. A metal debris of burnt component sort circuited a corner of white square component. Then I opened my other 7720 and I foun those two components burned too :( But in this case no debris found and the laptop is still working. I'll open my third 7720 to see how they are
