Precision 5680 - GPU Upgrade from Dell Inquiry

Hello all,

I've recently gotten a Dell Precision 5680 and I reviewed the owner's manual and I noticed that the GPU is upgradable.

https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-ca/precision-16-5680-laptop/precision-5680-owners-manual/removing-the-gpu-card?guid=guid-2ea5ac93-4eaf-4de5-bf9d-e1fd15955d45&lang=en-us

I wanted to inquire regarding upgrade possibilities from Dell, is it possible I can send in my system and ask Dell to upgrade the GPU? Parts for this workstation's GPU aren't very common so wondering if Dell can upgrade my system and I can pay them. Thanks in advance.

Dell won't do post-purchase upgrades -- but if you can find the GPU you want, any local computer shop can change the card.  Note that it's common for the heatsink assembly to need to be changed with a new GPU, and that it's not necessarily going to be easy to find the part, which is Dell specific.  You can call Dell to see about availability, or try EBay.  For example,

@ejn63 Just wanted to follow up, I'm aware the RAM on the unit is soldered so I'm looking at a motherboard for the 5680 just with 32 GB of RAM and a 13800H over my 13700H and 16GB. Is the board a drop-in replacement without any problems or would there be any potential issues with swapping the board out for another which is for the same computer just with more RAM and a slightly better CPU?

The boards should swap.  There are several sellers on EBay with the boards.
