Precision 5680 - Display Upgrade Inquiry

The Dell Precision 5680 has 2 display options, and I am wondering if it is possible to perform and upgrade from the 1920x1200 display to the 3840x2400 display. They have the same connector, so theoretically it should be possible, but I just want to confirm if there's anything in software I should do for the upgrade to work, or if it would simply be a plug-and-play solution.
