Precision 5560 - USB audio device problem in MS Teams meetings; disable audio enhancements

We are having issues with call quality during Teams meetings where other meeting attendees have trouble hearing our discussion because the first few words of every sentence will cut out. The issue is occurring across multiple Precision 5560's, all of which have the latest audio, BIOS, & chipset drivers installed via Dell Command Update as well manually installing the missing Thunderbolt Controller driver from your support site. The issue happens using different USB audio devices (Meeting Owl Pro & Huddle Pod Air 2 Duo's).

In troubleshooting, I reinstalled Teams and also tried adjusting the various audio-related settings within Teams ('adjust mic sensitivity', 'noise suppression, 'high fidelity music mode'), but none of these settings solved it. I finally found a workaround which is to navigate to the 'Sound Settings > Microphone > Device Properties > Additional Device Properties > Advanced tab' and disabled audio enhancements under the 'Signal Enhancements' section. However, this is not a true solution, because this feature gets re-enabled each time a USB audio device is plugged into a laptop.

I've noticed that some of our older Dell laptops (Latitudes, XPS, and even Precisions) don't have this issue, and I've also noticed that the 'Signal Enhancements' section is not present on some of their USB audio drivers. I've been trying to find a way to install a different driver or disable this feature in the latest driver, but I've had no luck. It seems that some sort of audio post-processing is causing the problem, and it's sort-of business critical. I'd really appreciate it if someone from Dell could provide some insight.

Thanks.

Hi,

I am experiencing issues with microphone cutting in and out on my Dell Precision 5560 as well, and people complaining that my voice seem to be distorted and sometimes coming from a distance.

Initially believed to be an issue with the built-in microhpone, I purchased a new headset, but the problem persist. The new headset have been tested on another computer with no issues.

As the original poster, I have attempted to tune the settings for mic sensitivity and etc...
When clicking on the link from Jesse at Dell above, it says the driver you provided to fix the solution is no longer available. Can you assist?

@DELL-Jesse L Hello. The above link seems to be broken. Can you update it? I'm having the same issue on the Dell Precision 5560. Thanks.

@danAMBW  - The most recent Realtek audio driver (15-May-2024) for Precision 5560 is here. Likely much newer than the driver linked above in 2022....
