Precision 5550 only intermittently charging

Recently my Precision stopped charging reliably using the original charger. 8/10 times the charger is not working, sometimes it works again after a hard reboot . But usually nothing happens and when reinserting the charger Windows says:

This is not isolated to a single usb-c port or the charger, when this issue occurs all three usb-c ports stop taking a charge on either the original or third party charger.
