Precision 5510 broken package

Hi I hope this is somehow monitored by Dell people. All latest packages from Dell are OK (like BIOS) excluding TPM. I've tried to upgrade device with TPM 2.0 (latest version from 2017) with TPM 2.0 firmware from July 2021 and get "authorization failed" during upgrade. It looks that upgrade package is broken or not recognized as valid (has got unknown certificate inside or something). Is it possible to fix it? Of course TPM device was cleaned before, not provisioned, BIOS was upgraded to 1.17, checksum for downloaded file was checked, etc. etc.

Regards M.

We got this checked with the Precision platform team and found that the incorrect file has been uploaded on the Support site for this model. The file is for Nuvoton NPCT750 TPM while the Precision 5510 is a Nuvoton NPCT650 TPM. It has been demoted now from the Support site. It should disappear by the end of today. There may be a new release for this specific model but we do not have an ETA.

We tried reaching you on a private message asking for the Service Tag number to ascertain the warranty but did not receive a response. Please feel free to reply to the private message whenever you are available.

Hello DELL-Cares I understand you're bot and q. about warranty is standard. Model Precision 5510 is from 2016 and I don't expect warranty repair, just informing you, that one of packages seems to broken. I suspect that it was signed with too new certificate or something. Please take it "as is" and fix if you to help your customers or ignore if you want to go into convincing them about lack of user care. I could possibly help with providing some details but your q. should be technical (and q. About warranty isn't). That's all. Thank you.

Welcome to the Dell Community @marcinw2

The "TPM 2.0 firmware from July 2021"

Important Information:

This utility updates the Nuvoton TPM 2.0 firmware to the version 7.2.2.0.

The one you are trying to install is for the Nuvoton TPM!!!

That could be why you are getting "Authorization Failed"

Best regards,

U2

2 packages from Dell were already OK + 1 of them was marked as Nuvoton firmware. This seems to be Nuvoton chip + 3rd package seems to be broken.

DELL-Cares what do you think about it? Does it make sense to validate warranty?

It's very important to make updates to mitigate security bugs on TPM firmwares.

Please, as soon as possible, bring us a release date for the Nuvoton NPCT650 TPM chip's firmware update.

Thanks.

Thank you DELL-Chris M. This is what I like - concrete precise analysis & answer directly on topic, no unnecessary marketing and using templates. This is very professional and human. I really appreciate this. Thank you once again.
