Monitor stopped being recognized when plugged into Pro2x port replicator

I have a Precision 7520 sitting on a Pro2x Port Replicator.  I have two Dell 24" S2721HN monitors plugged into the two DisplayPort ports on the replicator, from HDMI port on the monitor.  Each monitor has a resolution set to 1920x1080 60hz.

Both monitors were recognized and worked fine for about a year.  Then a couple of months ago, one of them stopped working, and is no longer recognized when plugged into the port replicator.  I have tried a new cable, and a new replicator, but neither worked.  I can use an HDMI-to-HDMI cable to plug the 2nd monitor directly to the laptop, and that does work.  I can now use both, but I'm wondering what may have happened to make the 2nd display port stop working on the port replicator.

Did you test by moving the working monitor and working cable to the "bad" displayport connector?

If you tested with another cable + replicator and it didn't work.  Why concluded that the 2nd port on the old replicator was "bad".  Usually, both of the old and new replicator didn't work, it meant the monitor was bad.

Could it be the 2nd monitor setup had a bad cable?  Because the monitor is working with direct laptop output.

Yes, I did try switching the monitors into the other port.  Each monitor worked in Displayport 1, and did not work in Displayport 2.  So, I did assume the replicator port was bad, but the new replicator had the exact same issue.  Both monitors worked in port 1, and didn't work in port 2.

I don't think it's the cable, because I tried the new DP to HDMI cable with each monitor and in each port. Same issue.  The direct laptop connection is HDMI to HDMI. Going to try a DVI to HDMI cable next since replicator doesn't have HDMI
