M6500 has no controls on touchpad, jog shuttle, keyboard
I bought a used M6500 and found that I am unable to make adjustments to the touchpad such as scrolling speed or two finger scrolling (just examples), lighting on the keyboard, use of the jog shuttle in the Windows Device Manager. I can find no Dell files on the hard drive whatsoever. I have another m6500 which is unusable right now but has all those controls.
Anyone have any idea?

Your point is well taken. My comment wasn't intended to stir things up. It's just that I know they're in here sometimes, based on past threads.
and typing in touchpad or keyboard, etc. was met with "We couldn't find a match for "touchpad".
Update your search criteria and try again."
I ended up doing a number of searches to get to the link you just provided. When, I entered the service tag, it said- No results found. We couldn't find anything for your search. Please modify your search and try again.
I went ahead and took the "not applicable enhancement" anyhow and it worked.

I managed to get the keyboard lighting enabled via the BIOS.

I have discs 1 through 3 that came with my other m6500 that are labeled as Device Drivers and Diagnostics and Utilities. They all have drivers with names that start with an R. However, I don't know what each one is for. Perhaps one of the Dell Pros can at least give me a clue.

After a lot of messing around, I finally came across the Dell jog shuttle and touchpad driver from Synaptics (https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=r280879). The driver name started with an R as referenced above. Now I can make settings for the touchpad and jog shuttle.
I can understand that Dell wants its employees to spend their support time on systems that are still under warranty. However, if an employee saw this thread, he/she could probably readily answer the question in about 30 seconds and move on.

I don't know what "messing around" was required. The driver is clearly listed on the drivers page for your laptop. It is not hidden. We volunteers in this forum, as well as Dell staff, frequently direct users to that site for drivers and documents. A small amount of browsing in this forum, or simple Internet search, should have found that relatively quickly.
This forum is primarily a user-to-user forum, with other users and frequently-posting volunteers such as me providing most of the help. Dell staff won't see every post. And, as your original post was less than 24 hours ago, you seem to be rather impatient and quick to point the finger, when you could have quickly found that driver on Dell's site.
