Lagging Keyboard Dell Precision 7530

Lagging Keyboard Dell Precision 7530

Hi! I have a Dell Precision 7530 with Intel 8th Generation core i7 and 56GB of RAM with Windows 10. Sometimes, either after I turn on the computer or wake it up from sleep mode, the keyboard will lag. Like, if I press the same key multiple times in a row in rapid succession, say 4 times, only 1, 2, or 3 of those presses will register. This happens with every key, even caps lock, number lock, brightness, volume, etc. If I hold down a key, it's fine. All the keyboard settings are default, and the driver is the default PS/2 keyboard driver from Microsoft. Usually, to fix this, I either put the laptop into sleep mode or restart it. Sometimes, it takes a couple of sleep mode attempts to fix it, and when that happens, the keyboard will start off fine, and then the lag will set in. This happens on Windows 7, 8.1, 10, and 11, so it's not specific to any OS, nor does it seem specific to any driver that I can tell. Any help on this greatly appreciated!

If you're experiencing a lagging keyboard on your Dell Precision 7530, try updating your keyboard drivers, running the Dell SupportAssist diagnostics, and checking for BIOS updates, as these can address performance issues and software conflicts.

Below is some troubleshooting information.

1. Update Keyboard Drivers:
Using Device Manager:
Open Device Manager (search for "Device Manager" in the Windows search bar).
Expand "Keyboards."
Right-click on your keyboard device and select "Update driver."
Choose "Search automatically for drivers" or "Browse my computer for drivers".
Using Dell SupportAssist:
Open SupportAssist (search for "SupportAssist" in the Windows search bar).
Click on "Get Drivers & Downloads" tile.
Click on "Update" and follow the on-screen instructions.
2. Run Dell SupportAssist Diagnostics:
Optimize your computer:
Open SupportAssist and click "Start Now" to run the tests.
Follow the on-screen instructions and suggested actions.
Check for Hardware Issues:
Run the Dell integrated or online diagnostics to determine if the keyboard is detected at a hardware level.
If the keyboard is detected, the issue might be with the operating system or installed software.
3. Check for BIOS Updates:

Check for conflicting software:
Some software can interfere with keyboard input. Try disabling recently installed programs or running in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists.
