Is it possible to install a 2.5" SATA hard drive to Dell Precision 3560?
Apparently according to the BIOS settings, my laptop does support SATA-1. Can anyone show me where tf to plug the cable? Cause I can't find it anywhere. This is my laptop PCB.

Hi
The internet (reddit mostly) reports ............
No, the Dell Precision 3560 does not support installing a 2.5" SATA hard drive.
Storage Design
The Precision 3560 is a thin-and-light 15-inch mobile workstation that relies exclusively on M.2 slots for storage, typically supporting both NVMe PCIe and SATA M.2 SSDs but no 2.5" bays. Dell's official setup guide confirms storage options are limited to M.2 form factors, with no provisions for 2.5" drives due to the compact chassis layout.
Community Insights
Users on forums like Reddit report no native 2.5" SATA compatibility, as the space is occupied by the battery or other components, and BIOS shows only SATA-1 signaling for M.2—not a full 2.5" interface. Creative mods like hot-gluing a drive with adapters (e.g., PCX32 kit) have been suggested but are unreliable, risk damaging hardware, and void warranties.
Upgrade Alternatives
Opt for M.2 SATA or NVMe SSDs, which fit the available slots and offer better performance. Check Dell's parts site for compatible upgrades, as the model supports up to dual M.2 configurations depending on the exact variant.
