Increased number of problems where Precision laptops stops charging
Our company have a lot of Precision models. We have noticed an increase in laptops stopping charging in the last year . The symptom is that a user contacts IT that their laptop is completely dead, or they have gotten a warning that the battery is low, even if the original charger is connected and there is light in the charger cable.
The solution has been various. Sometimes disconnecting the charger and then turn off computer, it may start charging again. What always work is to disconnect the battery by opening the computer, but this is often not possible at remote locations. We have also had some luck to disconnect the charger, turn off the computer, then connect a USB-C charger (even very low watts like Apple 30W charger) and then reconnect original charger and suddenly it charges again..
This problem seems unique to Dell computers now, and it seems to affect many models like Precision 7760, 7680, 5560 and others. We have tried contacting support but they have no knowledge of this except that they can offer to change the motherboard...
Do anybody have any more knowledge of this problem?

Update the system bios on the systems to see if that will resolve the issue.
To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them. Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.

this is irrelevant. we run dell autoupdate frequently on a schedule so BIOS is updated.
