How to test a laptop SSD?

My Dell 22 day old refurbished laptop is reporting "Hard Drive- Not Found".  After a few hours, I tried again and it started up.  Is there a chance it is fine or did it get a bad laptop?  Standard warranty expired in 14 days so I have to figure it out without Dell support.

Click here to resolve hard drive issues.
Running Laptop Hard Drive Diagnostics

To run diagnostics on your laptop's hard drive, follow these steps:

  1. Pre-Boot Diagnostic Test:

    • Turn on your laptop.
    • Tap the F2 key several times until you see the One Time Boot Menu.
    • Select Diagnostics and press Enter.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the pre-boot diagnostic test.
  2. Check Test Results:

    • If the tests pass, the hard drive is functioning correctly, and the issue may be related to the operating system or software.
    • If the tests fail, note the Service Tag, error code, and validation code. Look up the error code and contact Dell Technical Support for repair options.
  3. Online Diagnostics (if the laptop can boot into Windows):

    • Go to Dell.com/support.
    • Identify your laptop.
    • Click Download and Install SupportAssist to auto-detect your laptop.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to install SupportAssist if required.
    • Alternatively, enter the Service Tag or Express Service Code and click Search.
    • Go to the Diagnostics tab and click Run Quick Test.
  4. Follow Up:

    • If the online test passes, proceed with other troubleshooting steps.
    • If it fails, contact Dell Technical Support for further assistance.

To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them.  Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.
