How to Connect M7760 to two 43" U4320Q
How do I connect an M7760 to two 43" U4320Q monitors?
I'm told I need a docking station, Dell Performance Dock- WD19DCS, but I'm trying to assure I won't be unpleasantly surprised. How do I hook things up once they arrive?
Also, I'm currently using a keyboard and trackball that have individual old-style USB ports. Do I have to replace those?
Thanks in advance,
James

Hello @Jim Thompson - SA , There are 2 video ports on the back of your Precision 7760 (HDMI and mini Displayport). You also have two thunderbolt 4 ports (on the left side). So your Precision 7760 can support to connect up to four 4K external monitors without the need of a docking station.
Still want to use the WD19DCS docking station, you can review the user guide to get yourself familiarize with the functions and how to setup once it arrive.
Trackball and keyboard can connect to available USB ports on your Precision 7760, no need to replace those.

Thank you for responding to my question Chino!
My original plan was not to get a docking station, but the sales person I talked to said I needed it run 2 external displays. I asked him to check with someone else because he didn't fill me with confidence, but he insisted that he was certain. He said something about needing a graphics card that only works with the docking station; though I don't need game or cad/cam graphics. I just want 2 very large (42") monitors for text.
I suspect you are correct and am exceedingly grateful, but since a Dell salesperson told me the opposite, do you know how I can confirm a correct answer?

Hello @Jim Thompson - SA , this is the External Display Connection Guide for your system. I understand you want to confirm it yourself. It also guide you to set display mode in BIOS properly.

Thanks Chino! That looks like exactly what I need to answer the question.
Unfortunately, I don't have the vocabulary to understand what I'm reading.
Am I buying an integrated or discrete graphics card? Which external connection mode applies to me?
I feel guilty taking your time unless I can pay you--which I'd happily do if you're an expert on this kind thing. How do I get help from Dell to figure this out? I have no faith in the salesperson I got when I called.

Hello Jim, don't feel bad if you can't understand the language in the guide, most people don't. I am just helping out others in here with my knowledge and experience and I am glad when someone get their issues resolved. No need to pay me, just post your result and accept as solution if my answer solve your issue so this post can help others.
Without looking up certain information from your system, I can't tell if you have integrated or discrete graphics but either one, it can support four displays at 4K resolution while you only need to setup two.
There is no need to read the Guide or making adjustment in BIOS unless you are running into issue. At this moment, if you already have the equipment, you can connect both monitors to the back of your workstation using HDMI cable and mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable. You can also try the USB type C cable to connect the monitor to thunderbolt port.
Let me know if it works for you.

Thank you Chino! I will order the equipment without the docking station, and I will report back after it arrives and I try plugging things in. I will leave this open and accept your solution when it's plugged in and working.
I am deeply grateful to you for your saving me from adding the complexity of a docking station I don't want.

Chinio,
Thank you for all your help! After talking with a Dell salesperson, I decided to order a tower rather than a laptop, so I didn't get to test the solution, but I suspect it would have worked fine.
