Guidance on Using Honeywell PTM 7950 in Dell Precision 3530

Hello Dell Community,

I have a Dell Precision 3530 equipped with:

  • Intel Core i7-8750H

  • NVIDIA Quadro P600

I am considering upgrading the thermal interface material in my system with Honeywell PTM 7950 (phase-change thermal material) and would like to ask:

  1. Where can I buy genuine PTM 7950 in Dubai or through Dell’s authorized channels?

  2. Is PTM 7950 recommended or supported for use in the Precision 3530?

  3. Which size of PTM 7950 sheet would be suitable for my CPU and GPU packages?

  4. What is the correct method to apply PTM 7950 in this laptop?

I want to ensure compatibility and follow Dell’s best practices.
Any official guidance or experience from other users would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

This is not OEM material, so there won't be any official Dell support for it.

You can either measure the sizes of the heat slugs and buy pre-cut pieces to fit, or custom-cut a sheet to fit the CPU and GPU heat slugs yourself.

You'll need to search locally for a supplier.  It's a pretty commonly sold material.

Make sure you completely clean all the existing heat sink material with alcohol before installing the thermal pad.
