Ethernet Connection drops after reboot (Monitor connection via Docking Station is the issue)
Hello together,
I'm reaching out because I've encountered a peculiar issue with my Dell Precision 7680 when connected to the 210W Dell docking station, and I'm hoping someone might have a solution or suggestions.
Problem: After a reboot, my Ethernet connection fails to work when the Dell Precision 7680 is connected to the 210W docking station. Interestingly, this issue seems to be related to the presence of a monitor connected to the docking station.
Details:
- When a monitor is connected via HDMI or DisplayPort to the docking station, the Ethernet connection stops functioning after a reboot. You can instantly fix it by plugging the USB-C Cable from the docking station out and in again.
- If no monitor is connected, the Ethernet connection works perfectly even after a reboot.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- I've tested different monitors, docking stations and cables, and the issue persists.
- Updated all relevant drivers and firmware and Bios to the latest versions.
Has anyone else experienced a similar problem, or does anyone have insights into why this might be happening? I would greatly appreciate any guidance or suggestions to resolve this issue.
Thank you in advance for your time and assistance!

I am having this issue with my Precision 7680 and WD19DCS, too, specifically after upgrading from Windows 11 v21H2 to v23H2.

I am experiencing this exact same issue on seven Precision 7680 workstations with the WD19DCS dock. Only when restarting the computer and only when monitors are connected to the dock, the Ethernet is not passed through to the computer. Unplugging and reconnecting the dock resolves the issues until the next restart. All firmware is up to date on the laptop, the BIOS is version 1.15, and the Dell dock firmware update utility v1.2 which is purported to have solved this issue has been installed. The problem persists. Please advise.
