Dell Precision M6500 AC Adapter to 7520 and 5520
Hi,
I still have my Dell Precision M6500 and its use mainly at home. It comes with 240-watt AC adapter. I also have the Precision 7520 and 5520 for on the road teaching of Revit application. I charge my Precision 7520 using the M6500 AC adapter with no problem, because they have the same barrel size connector.
Question: Can I use the M6500 AC adapter to charge my 5520 using this converter?
Amazon.co.jp: KAUMO DCプラグ変換 L字型 メス(7.4/5.0mm) → オス(4.5/3.0mm) HP専用 Dell未対応 : Computers
I just dont want to take out my Precision 5520 AC adapter since I have one already plug -in at home.
Please advise.
Cheers

@Jun Austria
My techs and I use 240W AC adapters on our benches for testing.
We use them on everything from a 65W system to a 230W system.
The laptops come with a SMART power system and will only draw the amount of power needed.
That's what the center pin on the DC jack is used for.
Communication between AC adapter and laptop, not power.

Welcome to the Dell Community @Jun Austria
I am not sure if it will work???
In the ad it says this!
[Notes on Dell PCs] When used with Dell PCs, it may be possible to supply power but not charge.
I have noticed the same warning in some other ads.
Best regards,
U2
I am not sure why it would not work as long as they pass through the center pin???

I believed the issue of not charging is when you use for example a 65Watts ac adapter to a unit that requires 130Watts.
The M6500 ac adapter output current is 12.3A. And I use it on my 7520 with no problem. 7520 ac adapter output current is rated 9.23A. So far, no blow-out.
But my 5520 ac adapter output current is rated at 6.67A. Thats why I'm hesitating to use the M6500 ac adapter to my 5520.
