Dell Precision M4800 Random Crash and Shutdown

I had it connected to an external monitor, and one day the screen just goes black on both screens. I disconnect it from the external monitor and try to reboot it. When I press the ON button I can tell the computer is on because the power button light is glowing but the actual screen remains completely black... Is it something I can fix or is it just way too old?
